2007 Year of the Pig
The 2007 Year of the Pig coins completes
the gold coins of The Perth Mint's Lunar Series, spanning
the years 1996 - 2007. For the silver coins, however,
three coins remain to be minted because the Mint did not
begin producing the silver coins until 1999, with the
Year of the Rabbit.
Because of the popularity of the Lunar
Series and because Series collectors have moved to
complete their collections, sales of the 2007 Year of the
Pig coins were strong when to Pigs were released in the
fall of 2006. As more collectors learn about the Lunar
Series, sales of Lunar Series coins will increase.
Actually, the Lunar Series is so well
done that many gold bullion investors have bought all the
coins of Lunar Series, thus becoming collectors. Truly,
the Perth Mint's Lunar Series is the most exciting coin
series to be introduced in decades.
